mens-essentialsJust in time for the holidays, a series of new retail shops has opened at Burbank Bob Hope Airport so that passengers can shop ‘til they drop—or pick up some last-minute gifts!
In November, Hudson Group revamped, renamed, and reopened their in-terminal stores, which now offer the latest in technology products; a wide selection of books, snacks, clothing, and children’s items; and locally-made confections that represent the unique flavors of the region. Hudson of Hollywood is located in the Terminal A lobby, directly across from the Lunch Box restaurant; Hudson of Burbank is located across from Gate A3; and Pasadena Marketplace is located near Gate B3, across from Peet’s Coffee. Glendale Crossings, which is expected to open soon, is located between Gates A6 and A7.

In early December, Glendale-based men’s grooming store MenEssentials also opened an in-Airport location near Gate A4, complete with on-site shaving services. Passengers can choose to purchase a shave on the spot, or select from a variety of grooming, skin, and hair care products that can be shipped to passengers’ homes or travel destinations.
“We’re thrilled to provide our passengers with some new and exciting retail options,” said David Freedman, the Airport’s Director of Business, Property, and Administrative Services. “We believe the remodeled Hudson stores, as well as the new MenEssentials location, will enhance the overall Burbank Bob Hope Airport passenger experience.”

History Spotlight: World War II Camouflage

hp4000During World War II, the Lockheed Corporation was concerned about the potential for an enemy attack on the Lockheed Skunk Works where employees were developing and building new military aircraft, and the adjacent Burbank Bob Hope Airport, which was then known as Lockheed Air Terminal. The Lockheed Corporation enlisted the help of the local movie studios to help camouflage the airfield and make it invisible to enemy spy planes. The result disguised the Airport as a serene, bucolic farmland to anyone with an aerial view—but in actuality, Airport operations bustled underneath the camouflage!

I do not have 100% vision so visiting BUR is a treat (for) me as it is small and easy to navigate. Most of all I like walking out to the plane and hearing all the planes as I walk out and the experience of walking beside the plane and under the wing make it special and unique.” — @jaseauradio
